Assabaska Ojibway Heritage Park offers two campgrounds for those wishing to extend their stay with us.  Each has a slightly different "personality" to offer.

Birch Campground
Birch Campground is located along the north shore of the park, and offers both electrical sites as well as non-electrical sites.  Birch Campground has more trees and vegetation than Aspen Campground, and therefore the sites offer a little more privacy.  There is a small beach area, and room to pull boats on to shore nearby.  Our Comfort Station with modern washrooms, showers, and laundry facilities is only a short walk away.

Aspen Campground
Aspen Campground is located on the southwest shore of the park, and provides a spectacular view of Lake of the Woods.  Several sites are located near the water, offering up memorable sunsets on clear summer nights.  The breeze off the lake helps to keep things cool and chases away a few mosquitoes in the process.

Aspen Campground will also be the site for our traditional tee-pee rentals.  Plans are underway for the construction of tee-pees that can be rented on a nightly basis, so that we may offer you a truly unique camping and cultural experience.

Feel free to explore both campgrounds before choosing your site for the night!

Future Plans

Our most exciting new plans include the construction of a traditional Ojibway Village, and several tee-pees that can be rented on a nightly basis as an alternative form of camping. The village will be the focal point for interpretive programming and demonstrations, sharing the culture and history of the Ojibway people with the park's visitors. The number of electrical sites available will also be expanded, to allow more room for visitors with trailers. Our Gatehouse will soon offer a wider variety of convenience goods, in addition to locally made traditional Ojibway crafts and artwork.
